Thule KIT 4001 Podium Intracker Kit Review

These fit our 2007 Kia Rondo as expected, however, the cheap plastic locking pin doesn't do a very good job of keeping the plastic cover on each of these.I've still only been able to (barely) get 3 out of 4 of them on.I read another review elsewhere that recommended the locking pin as a better alternative, so I'm going to try those.I don't suspect it will add any real security because you can pop the plastic covers off easily with just a screwdriver, but hopefully it will hold them in place a bit better.

Excellent product! These are a great option for adding a roof rack system to your vehicle. Installation is fairly easy - for those with a bit of mechanical ability. This is the second set I've installed on my vehicles and have been able to transfer one roof rack system over without having to buy a whole new system.

Thule Adaptor Kit for 430 Tracker Foot (TK12) Review

I bought this adapter kit to go with my thule load bars. I installed these on my existing factory rack on my 2004 GMC Envoy. I did have to make some minor adjustments for a proper fit,but it works very nicely on my factory rack and is very secure. The adapters are a little pricey, but very well made.

Thule Roadway 2 Bike Hitch Carrier Review

This is 5-stars and it's not even close.

I'm sure there are cheaper solutions but I didn't want to fool around with other products and then end up having to buy this anyway a year from now.

I've heard good things about this Thule rack from friends for years and now I'm in a position to attest to the quality - worth every penny.

Pros:
- Easy to put on and take off.
- Bends out of the way so you can get in and out of the hatch back (4-Runner)
- Rock solid engineering and quality materials are obvious - I'll have this for life - I have no doubts.
- SL2 lock for securing this to your hitch and making "thief-proof" is a must and I'm very impressed with how they pulled that off as well. Buy the lock right away - you're going to want it.

Cons - none yet to speak of - I'll update this if something comes up.

Comment: I have my doubts about the lock that secures the bikes to the rack - the cable lock - I don't question Thule's product - I think it's as good as anything out there but I don't have any confidence in cable locks in general securing my bikes.

I haven't bought a solution yet because I need to figure out the measurements. But, I'll likely buy 2-4 Kryptonite locks to secure the bikes to the rack. I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything less. Cable locks are just too easy for thiefs to cut. Ideally, I'd like 2-3 Kryptonite locks with the same key.

Allen Deluxe 4-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Review

Allen Deluxe 4-Bike Trunk Mount Rack

We purchased this product so we could haul 4 bikes at the same time we are towing a popup camper. The tow vehicle is a 2008 Aspen SUV. In that situation there are some options but they are limited. We also wanted something we could use whether or not we are towing the camper, so a camper-mounted rack was out.The good news is that 4 bikes fit on the rack with very littleproblem - I rotated the handlebars on bike #1 90 degress to help the puzzle fit but that was the only modification. The bad news is, when we arrived at our destination there was some damage to the rear door of our vehicle, where the lower bar rests. That is a lot of weight, and apparently that part of the door could not handle it.There are a couple small dents, which are not exceedingly hideous but are noticable.I am considering adding some kind of buffer to that area, something that can absorb / distrubute the weight without incurring further damage to the door.Anybody have any suggestions?

About Allen Bike Racks
In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family's bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.
Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens' tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick's son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.
